Circadian clocks in HPA axis-immune system crosstalk
Rest your biological clock and good sunshine and right melatonin in night is the key to enhance your natural immune system, Blue light through electronic gadgets is continuously disturbing our melatonin pathway creating a biological clock disturbances responsible for post covid consequences. Post covid planet is a challenge. We need to introspect and work harder to enhance our immune system. A well oiled immune system is a 360 degree wellness. A good immune system needs a peaceful mind, positive attitude, good emotional coping, right environmental health, optimum social wellness and a good refreshing sleep. We call it a Holistic Harmony controlled by your Neuro chemical pathways.A holistic harmony is possible when you enhance your immune protective system with right proportion of immune enhancer.a true immune enhancer is a good biological clock, right sunshine , good sleep, right physical activity and a balanced nutrition.Let’s understand the human system.
The human being is ideally governed by our Biological clock , a circadian system controlled by our hypothalamic pituitary system. As we we get up in the morning sunlight triggers the the suprachiasmatic nuclues ( SCN) in hypothalamus through our retina thalamic tract which through different algorithms stimulating the production of endogenous steroids . These steroids create an anti inflammatory system to protect the body from viral inflammatory mechanisms. At the end of the day when sun dis appears it is the Melatonin pathway which induces good sleep. Melatonin enhances immune
pathways. When eyes receive light from the sun, the pineal gland’s production of melatonin is inhibited and the hormones produced keep the human awake. When the eyes do not receive light, melatonin is produced in the pineal gland and the human becomes tired.A combination glucocorticoids in day and melatonin in night creates an optimum immune activations protecting our body from noxious substances.
A an optimum functioning of Biological clock needs right sunshine and minimal artificial light, blue light in night for smooth functioning of biological clock, a must to enhance your immune system. Immune cells can activate the HPA axis via cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukins (IL-1/6) at the level of the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of the hypothalamus as well as at the pituitary and adrenal, stimulating the production of glucocorticoids. Glucocorticoids in turn act on the receptors on the surface or in the cytoplasm of immune cells to suppress the induction of pro-inflammatory responses, and to promote a shift from T helper cell type 1 (Th1) toward T helper cell type 2 (Th2)-mediated humoral immunity. This inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, while promoting the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-4, interleukin-10, and interleukin-13 (IL-4/10/13) by various immune cells. In addition, ACTH exerts direct anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating effects via the melanocortin system. CRH, corticotropin-releasing hormone; AVP, arginine vasopressin; DC, dendritic cell; MΦ, macrophage
